Auto Repair 2007-2008 Ford Edge Pull/ Drift

Auto Repair 2007-2008 Ford Edge Pull/ Drift

Issue some 2007-2008 ford edge and lincoln MKX vehicles may exhibit a drift / pull concern that occurs even though the tire pressure and wheel alignment in the specification , and the concern is not corrected by turning the front tires left to right . Actions follow the service procedure steps to improve the condition . Service procedures to verify that the deviation / pull is not caused by concerns listed in the workshop manual ( WSM ) , Section 204-00 drift / pull diagnostics . If the irregularities are normal diagnostic / pull wsm / procedure does not resolve the problem then see the following steps service . Note this service procedure can cause the front cross camber ( total / split ) value exceeds service manual alignment specs 12:00 ± 0.75 degrees . Do not exceed ± 1.2 degree cross camber . To the right drift / pull 1 . Check the left strut top plate to verify which way the arrow is pointing . ( Figure 1 ) records if the notch seen in the access hole in the strut tower , plate has rotated 0.5 degrees positive . 2 . If the arrow is pointing the ship as seen through the access hole in Figure 1 , there is no rotation required ( 0.5 degrees positive camber already exists ) . Continue with step 4 . 3 . If the arrow is pointing paste , increase of about 0.5 degrees of positive camber on the left front wheel by turning the upper strut plate 180 degrees . See wsm , section 204-00 , camber adjustment - front . Note remove the front stabilizer bar link on the lower control arm so that enough clearance is available to play the upper strut mount . Replace the nut on the stabilizer bar link reassembly . Note replaces four ( 4 ) upper strut mount nut .

4 . Place the vehicle on the alignment rack . Removing and replacing the two ( 2 ) front right shock absorber ( strut ) to give up the wheel bolts lower the flag and nuts but do not tighten . See wsm , section 204-01 . 5 . With the full weight of the vehicle on the right wheel allows wheels to increase negative camber bolt and tighten both low and flag nuts to 166 lb - ft ( 225 N • m ) . Shifting camber can vary between vehicles , but typically will be between minus 0.2 and 0.6 degrees negative camber changes . See wsm , section 204-01 . 6 . Re- adjustment of the front foot with the right specifications . See wsm , section 204-00 , leg adjustment - front . To the left drift / pull 1 . Check the upper strut plate right to verify which way the arrow is pointing . ( Figure 1 ) records if the notch seen in the access hole in the strut tower , plate has rotated 0.5 degrees positive .
