Auto Repair 1995 Ford Taurus SHO Engine Performance Quick Test

Description The following procedure is a functional test system EEC - IV . 5 basic steps must be followed in sequence test to avoid misdiagnosis : Visual Check Equipment Hookup KOEO ( Key On Engine Off ) KOER SELF - TEST ( Key On Engine Running ) SELF - TEST mode continuously monitors ( Wiggle Test ) Diagnostic Aids After each service or repair procedure has been completed , repeat QUICK TEST to ensure all system EEC - IV works well and the diagnostic trouble code is no longer present . CHECK VISUAL Complete all the steps in BASIC TESTING - 3.2L article SHO before proceeding to the self-diagnostic test . Make sure all vacuum hoses and the EEC - IV wiring harness is connected correctly .

EQUIPMENT HOOKUP Apply the parking brake and place the shift lever in Park ( A / T ) or Neutral ( M / T ) position . Block wheel drive . Turn off all electrical devices . Connect the test equipment appropriate for the following vehicles : Analog Volt - Ohmmeter ( VOM ) 1 . Turn the ignition off . Set VOM in the range of 0 - 15V DC . Connect the VOM positive lead to the positive terminal of the battery. 2 . Connect negative VOM lead to the Self - Test Output ( STO ) terminal Data Link Connector ( DLC ) . See Fig . 3 . Go to KOEO SELF - TEST . Enable KOEO SELF - TEST by connecting a jumper wire from the Self - Test Input ( STI ) pigtail to the terminal ( SIG RTN ) at DLC with ignition on signal . Follow the manufacturers instructions scan tester to connect recording equipment and diagnostic trouble codes . STAR Series Tester Turn the ignition off . Connect the adapter cable is color - code leads to a diagnostic tester . 2 connector connects to the adapter cable service vehicle Data Link Connector ( DLC ) and the pigtail connector STI . If using Super Star II tester , select the EEC - IV and Quick mode. In all models , go to KOEO SELF - TEST .
