When the antenna mast is broken or damaged on a 1990 Celica, Cressida or V6 Truck/4Runner equipped with a power antenna, the following procedure should be used to replace the antenna mast. Please note that the following procedure requires two people. REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS: 1) Turn the Ignition Key to the “OFF” position. 2) Carefully remove the Cap Nut and O–ring from the antenna body using SST 09814-30030-01 (See Figure 1). 3) Turn the Ignition Key to the “ACC” position, turn “ON” the radio, and push the “AM” or “FM” Button. This step will push the antenna mast out of the antenna body. The second person should stand next to the antenna to prevent the antenna mast from damaging the vehicle when it is pushed out of the antenna body (see figure 2).
RE INSTALLATION: 4) Insert the cable end (plastic with teeth) of the new antenna mast with the teeth directed toward the rear of the vehicle. Keep inserting the cable until it reaches the bot- tom of the antenna body (see figure 3). 5) Turn the Ignition Key to the “OFF” position. This will re- tract the cable and antenna mast into the antenna body. If the cable is not being retracted, twist it back and forth until the cable starts retracting (see figure 4). 6) Install the O-ring and Cap Nut even if the antenna mast has not been retracted fully into the antenna body. 7) Inspect the operation of the antenna by pushing the “AM” or “FM” button. After the initial operation, the antenna mast should completely retract.
