B. Trim Panel Removal 1. Store parts safely for reinstallation later. STOP 2. Open trunk lid. 3. Remove the ten (10) plastic clips holding the inner trunk lid trim panel and remove the panel. (Fig. B 1) 4. Open the rear doors and fold the rear seat back down. The seat back releases are located in the trunk near the trunk lid hinges. 5. Pull the rear door opening trim weather-strip, LH & RH, forward away from the roof side garnish inner trim panels. 6. Remove the seven clips from the LH & RH room partition boards. (Fig. B 2) 7. Remove the LH and RH roof side garnish inner trim panels. (Fig. B 3) 8. Lift up the package tray trim panel. There are three (3) clips near the front edge of the panel. Remove the three shoulder harness belts from the slots in the package tray. (Fig. B 4) 9. Disconnect the stop lamp wiring harness connector that is located between the LH and Center shoulder belts.
10. Carefully remove the package tray trim panel by lifting and pulling forward. C. Replacing the CHMSL 1. Remove the CHMSL light bulb/socket from the CHMSL housing. (Fig. C 1) i. Remove and discard the bulb. ii. Remove and discard the CHMSL housing. iii. Tuck the empty lamp socket under the felt insulation pad and tape it to the bottom of the package tray trim panel. 2. Install the correct color CHMSL insert by hooking the center slot over the tab on the package tray trim panel and then pressing down on the two arms until the snap in place. (Fig. C 2) D. Installation of Torque Rod Spacers 1. Prop open the trunk lid while the torque rod spacers are installed. 2. Apply a small spot of lithium base grease on the torque rod spacer where it meets the torque rod prior to installing it. STOP 3. Using the special torque rod tool, rotate the torque rod forward out of the passenger side trunk lid hinge arm. (Fig.s D 1 & D 2) 4. Install the torque rod spacer as shown on the arm. (Fig. D 2) Make sure it is fully seated. i. Slowly allow the torque rod to seat in the slot on the torque rod spacer. (Fig. D 3) 5. Repeat for the driver side of the vehicle. 6. Remove the prop and close the trunk lid.
