WARNING: When the battery cables are connected, touching the vehicle body with generator terminal “B” generates sparks. This can cause personal injury, fire, and damage to the electrical components. Always disconnect the battery before performing the following operation. Removal & Installation 1. 2. 3. 4. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the right splash shield. Set a breaker bar on the center of the front drive belt auto tensioner pulley. Using the breaker bar, turn the center of the front drive belt auto tensioner pulley clockwise to release tension to the drive belt. Remove the drive belt. Remove the transverse member. See Fig. 12 . Remove the front exhaust pipe. Remove the joint shaft. See INTERMEDIATE SHAFT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in AXLE SHAFTS – FRONT – MPV article in DRIVELINE/AXLES. Disconnect generator terminal “B” wire. See Fig. 13 . Disconnect generator harness connector. Remove generator mounting bolts. Remove generator. To install, reverse removal procedure. See Fig. 13 . Tighten fasteners in sequence, to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
