1. With ignition off. Disconnect TP sensor 4-pin harness connector. Measure resistance between TP sensor terminals No. 4 (Black/White wire) and No. 1 (LightBlue/Black wire) on Sonata and terminals No. 1 (Black/White wire) and No. 4 (LightBlue/Black wire) on XG 300. See Fig. 2 . Standard resistance value should be 3500-6500 ohms. If resistance is not as specified, replace TP sensor. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. 2. Measure resistance between TP sensor terminals No. 2 (Blue wire) and No. 4 (Black/White wire) on Sonata and terminals No. 1 (Black/White wire) and No. 3 (Pink wire) on XG 300. Open throttle valve slowly from idle position to wide-open throttle position.
Resistance should change smoothly in proportion to the throttle valve opening. If resistance changes smoothly, go to next step. If resistance does not change smoothly, replace TP sensor. 3. Connect a digital voltmeter between TP sensor connector terminals No. 2 (Blue wire) and No. 4 (Black/White wire) on Sonata and terminals No. 1 (Black/White wire) and No. 3 (Pink wire) on XG 300. Turn ignition on and measure voltage with throttle in idle position. Voltage should be 300-900 millivolts. If voltage is not as specified, replace sensor.
