Auto Repairing 2003–2005 Honda Accord MIL On With DTC P2227? Check for a Bad TP Sensor
Got a vehicle in your shop with the MIL and DTC P2227 ( BARO problem various sensors / performance ) ? A bad throttle position ( TP ) sensor could be the culprit . Here's how to find and fix the problem : 1 . Connect the HDS to the 16P DLC . 2 . Turn the ignition switch to ON ( II ) . 3 . Check the other DTC . • If no other DTCs , record , solve problems , and clear them first , then go to step 4 . • If no other DTC , proceed to step 4 . 4 . Look at the Auto On-Board Data Snapshot or Freeze , and note the TP Sensor voltage . • If the voltage reading above 0.5 volts with the engine off or idling ( VSS = 0 ) and the throttle valve is closed , go to step 5 . • If the voltage does not read above 0.5 volts with the engine off or idling ( VSS = 0 ) and the throttle valve is closed , go to step 6 .5 . Check the debris holding open the throttle valve or throttle cable tight . ( There should be 3/8 to 1/2 inch [ 10 to 12 mm ] free play in the throttle cable . ) Perform the necessary repairs , clear the DTC P2227 , and retest . If DTC back or everything is OK to start with , and then check the TP sensor harness connection , make necessary repairs , erase DTC and retest . If the DTC return or connection is OK to start with , go to step 7 . 6 . Check to see if the TP sensor voltage never got below 0.45 volts . • If the voltage to below 0.45 volts , check the TP sensor harness connection , make necessary repairs , clear the DTC P2227 , and retest . If the DTC return or connection is OK to start with , go to step 7 .
• If the voltage is not never got below 0.45 volts , see Fuel and Emissions section of the applicable S / M and perform troubleshooting procedures for DTC P2227 . ( Online , enter a keyword and select DTC 2227 Issue : . P2227 from the list ) 7 . Referring to the Fuel and Emissions section of the applicable S / M , and replace the throttle body . ( Online , enter and select keywordsTHROTTLE BODY Throttle Body Removal / Installation from the list . ) When finished , reset the ECM / PCM idle learn and perform the procedure .
