Auto Repair 2005-2007 Ford Five Hundred Mil On With Various Dtcs
ISSUE Some 2005-2007 Five Hundred, Freestyle and Montego vehicles may exhibit a malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) or wrench light with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P2135, P0068, P0121, P0221, P0222, P0223, P1120, P1121, P1124, P1125, P2100, P2101, P2104, P2106, P2107, P2110, P2111, and P2112. ACTION For vehicles with DTCs P0068, P0121, P0221, P0222, P0223, P1120, P1121, P1124, P1125, P2100, P2101, P2107, P2111, and or P2112, perform normal diagnostics called out in the appropriate Powertrain Controls/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual. If normal diagnostics lead to an electronicthrottle body (ETB) replacement refer to the following Service Procedure. If normal diagnostics do not reveal a problem, and a DTC P2135 is present, replace the ETB. For 2005 and 2006 vehicles with DTCs P2135 and P2106 only and 2007 model year vehicles with DTC P2135 only replace the ETB referring to the following Service Procedure. SERVICE PROCEDURE For vehicles built 3/9/2005 and later replace the throttle body refer to the appropriate Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-04. For vehicles built prior to 3/9/2005 replace the throttle body refer to the appropriate WSM, Section 303-04 and reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) to the latest calibration using IDS release B40.4 and higher or B41.1 and higher. This new calibration is not included in the B41 CD. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraft.com.
