1. Before proceeding, see air bag safety precautions . Disable air bag system. See disabling system under disabling & Activating air bag system. Remove rear console box and brake boot. See fig. 11 . Remove center panel and bracket. Remove rear console and under cover. Remove glove box and glove box door. Remove upper and lower column covers. 2. Remove driver-side air bag module, steering wheel and combination switch. See driver-side air bag module under removal & Installation. Remove meter hood and instrument cluster. Remove passenger-side air bag module. Passenger-side air bag module under removal & Installation. Remove steering shaft mounting bolts. 3. Remove hood release knob. Remove side panels from instrument panel. Remove instrument panel mounting bolts. Disconnect electrical connectors.
Pull instrument panel up and forward and remove. Installation to install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure instrument panel installation pin is inserted into corresponding hole. Tighten bolts to specification. See torque specifications . After installation, activate air bag system. See disabling & Activating air bag system . Check air bag warning light to ensure system is functioning properly. See system operation check . Removal before proceeding, see air bag safety precautions . Disable air bag system. See disabling system under disabling & Activating air bag system. Remove glove box. Remove passenger- side trim panel. Remove 2 passenger-side air bag module retaining bolts. See fig. 4 . Disconnect module harness connector. Remove passenger-side air bag module. Installation to install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten air bag module retaining bolts in to specification. See torque specifications . Activate air bag system. See activating system under disabling & Activating air bag system. Check air bag warning light to ensure system is functioning properly. See system operation check
