To adjust idle speed after installation of Air Conditioning on a 1990 Celica with 5S-FE engine, use the following procedure: ADJUSTING PROCEDURE: Before starting the adjustment procedure, warm-up the engine by holding it above 2500 rpm for a minimum of 2 minutes. 1. With the engine off, connect terminal “TE1” and “E1” by using a shorting pin SST P/N 09843-18020. Terminals “TE1” and “E1” are located in the Diagnostic Check Connector near the power brake cylinder. 2. Set the parking brake, put the transmission in “Park” or “N,” then start the engine.
3. Remove vacuum hose marker “#*” from the top port of the ASV as shown in figure 1. Re- move vaccum hose marked “#0” from the VSV, and connect it to the top port of the ASV as shown in figure 2. NOTE: This will activate A/C idle-up. Figure 1 4. Adjust the folowing Components/Accessories: – All electrical load off. – Tires straight to alleviate power steering pump load. – Switch the “A/C” button “OFF.” – Set Blower Fan Speed Control switch to “OFF.” 5. With the condenser fan not running, check that the idle speed is 1200 $ 50 rpm.
