1. Align the timing mark on the timing belt pulley and camshaft pulley with the marks. 2. Remove all the spark plugs. NOTE: This is to prevent compression while rotating the timing belt. 3. This procedure must be used to install the timing belt. (1) Install the timing belt tensioner and spring. (2) Position the timing belt tensioner all the way to the intake side, and temporarily secure it by tightening the lock bolt. (3) Install the timing belt on the crankshaft pulley and the camshaft pulley from the tension side (the right side as viewed from the front of the engine) so that tension is retained. CAUTION: If the timing belt is to be reused, install it so that the arrow applied when it was removed points in the direction the timing belt will rotate.
(6) Check to see that the timing marks are correctly aligned. NOTE: If not aligned, repeat steps (2)-(5). (7) Tightening torque: 37-52 N.m (3.8-5.3 m-kg, 27-38 ft-lb) Tighten the timing belt tensioner lock bolt. 4. Install the lower and upper timing belt cover. Tightening torque: 7-10 Nm (70-100 cm-kg, 61-87 in-lb) 5. Install the crankshaft pulley and baffle plate. Tightening torque: 12-17 Nm (1.3-1.7 m-kg, 109-152 in-lb)
